2008 EVENT POSTPONED

Welcome to the 8th annual South Bank to Surfers Paradise cycle.
This is a mass participation ride which will start at South Bank and wind its way down to the café district in the heart of Surfers Paradise. There will be a small pit stop available at Yatala where riders can have a quick breather, top up drinks and a small snack. The event will finish in downtown Surfers Paradise with some entertainment and a great array of cafes happy to feed hungry cyclists and families.

At , we are passionate about promoting cycling in the community and supporting worthwhile causes, like the Queensland Institute of Medical Research –Skin Cancer research.” Managing Director, and fellow cycling enthusiast, Craig Bingham said “We are excited to be a part of this year’s South Bank to Surfers Bike ride. Not only is this event a great opportunity for friends, families and colleagues to participate in a fun, challenging day and take in the sights, it is an opportunity to raise much needed funds for the QIMR - Skin Cancer research.”

Established in 1945 by the Queensland Government, The Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR) is one of the largest medical research institutes in the southern hemisphere, and is recognised worldwide for the quality of its research. Originally established to further the study of tropical diseases in North Queensland, QIMR has over its 60 years' history broadened its scope to include the immunological, biological and molecular basis of a wide range of infectious diseases, cancers and other disorders. QIMR has also built a strong research stream in epidemiology, the study of the environmental, lifestyle and genetic factors that contribute to disease incidence among populations.
